Prepare for your Specialty Class!

Important Requirement: Up-to-date medical records, including a negative fecal report dated within one year that states “no parasites seen,” must be submitted to us at least 72 hours prior to your first visit. See our Medical Requirements page to upload records and learn more. (There are no refunds or make-ups for classes forfeited due to missing or late fecal records.)

Upon Arriving at the Dog Center…
  • The entrance for arriving students is through the side door by the pea stones and red, white & blue fire hydrant.
  • Use our dog-friendly potty area if needed.
  • Wait by the side door until your trainer opens the door and invites you in. Do not enter through the front door.
  • Keep your dog leashed and close by your side at all times. Don’t approach other dogs.
What to Bring…
  • A 6-foot leash. (No retractable leashes. Anybody with a retractable leash will be asked to buy a standard one.)
  • A hungry dog! We’ll be using treats in class.
  • Healthy, soft treats. If you forget them, we have a great selection in our shop!
  • A treat pouch and/or pockets for your training items.
  • Poop bags. It’s a good habit to always have them with you.
  • Comfy clothes and athletic shoes – no high heels or boots, please!
  • An open and inquisitive mind. You’re likely to learn new information, and we want to make sure all of your questions are answered.

Fun & Games: Agility and Tricks

Fun & Games is more than just fun, although it’s that, too! Agility and tricks require teamwork, confidence, and leadership—the core values of The Lisa Rockland Method. In this class, you and your dog can expect to master traditional agility skills like the A-frame, tunnel, chute, and jumps, as well as fun tricks and new games that are tailored to your level. This is an active class so please wear comfortable, athletic footwear and bring lots of cookie treats (we have a great selection in our shop!). We work with non-aggressive dogs at all phases of development, plus owners of all ages—from middle schoolers who want to build self-confidence, to moms and dads who want to encourage better canine behavior, to folks who want to learn actual dog handling. All are welcome.

Note: This class is great on its own or as a complement to our regular training classes. Students are welcome to take this class as many times as they like: we will always be filtering in new dogs, making new obstacle courses, and adding new challenges so you can always keep improving your skills!

Dog Sports

Our Dog Sports program combines agility, rally, tricks, and other fun activities for the energetic dog. Exercise is essential and this class offers plenty of action, but we’ll also focus on exercising your dog’s brain. Agility, rally, and tricks all require leadership and teamwork. Develop focus and communication skills as you and your dog navigate elaborate rally courses together. Master distance commands to execute the perfect agility run. Learn new tricks to impress your friends—it’s a wonderful way to build a lasting bond with your dog. This class emphasizes fun over competition, so be prepared to have a blast!
